Story
Need a lawyer? He drives his law firm in his Lincoln and is ready to put his foot down. Cruising around Los Angeles, he takes care of business while balancing his personal life, which includes fatherhood and two ex-wives.

Originally set up with CBS for a 2020 series, it was canceled shortly before filming the first episode due to COVID. It has now been picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode first season based on Mickey Heller’s second book, The Brass Verdict. California personalized plates allow a maximum of seven letters/numbers, but all of Mickey’s plates have at least eight.

A lawyer who went through drug rehab, with two ex-wives, a daughter, and a passion for cars, finds himself at the center of a high-profile case after the death of a friend. This is accompanied by practice and a large number of minor issues that it can’t deal with. This intriguing premise creates a scenario ripe with possibilities for a legal procedural series.
It’s engaging, fun, and enjoyable from start to finish – highly recommended
The show takes this, adds a strong cast, well-crafted and delivered dialogue, and an interesting plot, and moves along at a good pace. Some of the cinematography is odd, especially scenes with shifting focus and some orange tones, though overall it works as it should. Mickey’s driver Izzy is often used as a plot device, but despite the obviousness, it feels natural and relevant to the narrative.
