he wanted a "Harrison Ford type," and auditioned people similar to Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they had to bring it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had brought the project, which would generate interest from other major actors.

Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was excited nonetheless.. From the reviews I’m reading here, it seems like people either love the show or they don’t, and it seems like it might depend on how the reviewers react to Jason Segal.
It can be laugh out loud and bring on tears the next minute
I’ve loved his films and I think he’s perfect for the role – and the addition of Harrison Ford takes the show to an even higher level, the writing is excellent, the story is fresh and the characters are original without going too stereotypically quirky . The relationships are complex and emotional and the very real human challenges are well drawn.
We highly recommend!
I was really disappointed after the second episode to realize that I would have to wait for more.
