In the end, Goldstein spoke to Ford and convinced him to take the role
When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and would audition people like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least approach Ford first, because they thought he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford was involved in the project, which piqued the interest of the other cast members.
I watched the first two episodes and found them fascinating
Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince her, but he was still very impressed. It was listed on WatchMojo: The Top 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023).
I also respect the way it’s presented—it doesn’t do things that other therapists should do, and that’s pretty clear
Part of that is because I realized there was something real about it, based on a therapist who needs therapy and wants to break through with his patients to unexpectedly overcome his own problems. It doesn’t get into the silly situations of other shows like Loot, but it’s still early in the series, and I’m still watching it.
The show isn’t for everyone
That said, I appreciate the depth of the characters, which don’t feel like caricatures; I want to get to know these people.
