Author and bird keeper Terry Masear wants to save every injured hummingbird in Los Angeles. As part of her volunteer hummingbird rescue mission, Terry takes in the most vulnerable patients, but the path to survival is fraught with uncertainty and drama. In Sally Aitken’s intimate and moving documentary, we become part of Terry’s hummingbird patients—including Cactus, Jimmy, Wasabi, Raisin, and Mikhail—as they celebrate their small victories and mourn their small tragedies. Through the eyes of America’s busiest ornithologist, each bird becomes memorable, powerful, and heroic.
