Story
Men and women live in a giant underground silo with different rules that they believe are there to protect them from the toxic and broken world above. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. The floor fans in various episodes spin in the wrong direction relative to the orientation of the blades.

For those who don’t know or may not be familiar with a plot technique called “mystery boxing,” mystery boxing is a writing method of placing mysteries and/or secrets into the arc of a plot or story to keep the audience engaged and invested in the overall narrative, while also providing “payoffs” for those viewers who manage to guess the contents of the mystery box before or when it is finally opened or revealed. The entire plot of SILO is a huge minefield full of mystery boxes that the viewer is challenged to make their way through.
The basic premise of SILO, or the main mystery box in general, is very similar to that of LOST
The true art and success of mystery box placement depends on the viewer’s tolerance for how often mystery boxes are placed and when they are finally opened to the public. At the heart of SILO, the main question or mystery for the audience is: “Why is this community living in a man-made, post-industrial concrete hole in the ground?” The beginning of SILO is interesting. The initial hook, the sets, the acting, the production values, the cinematography are all good if the viewer likes the whole subdued dystopian genre.
SILO is primarily a character-driven, slow-paced drama with some recurring themes
The challenge for the viewer can be the fast-paced assembly line of constantly unloading mystery boxes and the overall slow pace of the plot. An Excel spreadsheet can also be useful for keeping track of all the mystery boxes dropped in the episodes. Some viewers may appreciate the level of detail and pacing, while others may have difficulty paying attention.
