Local rebellious teenager Clotaire falls in love with his schoolmate Jackie, but gang violence leads him down a darker, more destructive path. After years of separation, the star-crossed lovers find that every path they take brings them back together. Malik Frikah, who plays 17-year-old Clotaire in this film, was a world champion in breakdancing when he was 10. One of the characters wears a Rolex Daytona Ceramic in the 1990s, but the watch was only released in 2016. Mes Mains Music by Gilbert Bécaud Lyrics by Pierre Delanoë. The film is very long and quite uneven between the first part, where the characters are teenagers, and the second part, ten years later. The acting is really good. The young actors are fresh and genuine. Adele and François are the best. Alain Chabat is a great teddy bear and as usual, you want to punch Benoit Poolvoorde. The background music really sets the tone of the 80s in a small French industrial town. Mostly British and American songs but so rooted in the era. You end the film with a smile on your face. Not the best film of the year, but a beautiful story of crazy and passionate love. Despite being uneven, follow Clotaire and Jackie all the way through.
