According to a Collider interview with cinematographer Phedon Papamichael in October 2020, the recently issued COVID precautions the studios were taking have lapsed. put Bob Dylan’s film project on the backburner; because of this, Papamichael and director James Mangold would move on to other projects. "I don’t think it’s dead," said Papamichael of the Chalamet-led biopic, “But in the era of COVID, it’s hard because it’s all in small clubs with a lot of extras in period costumes, so” I have a lot of hair and makeup.
